How to Create a Contemporary Florist Logo In Illustrator

I will show you how to make a contemporary logo for a florist. We will do this using Adobe Illustrator.

The logo that we will create will be for a fictitious florist company called Swb Florists.
The logo will use basic shapes to create the form with a subtle color pallet.

Step One

Open a new Document in illustrator. We are going to use the pen tool to create our flower shape. Set the fill to none and the path to 1px black.  This will help you see your paths more clear as you are drawing them.

Start by creating a shape like so.

First path with pen tool for flower logo

Remember to keep an eye on you handles and use the ALT key to rein them back in.

Keep trying out different shapes until you have something you are happy with that is similar to below.

Step 2

Now we have the first shape lets start to draw the other side of our floral logo still using the pen tool.

Step 3

You should now have two shapes. You need to bring these together and arrange them until your happy with the look.

Now we need to position them and give it some colour.
I use the following EB8AB6.

Use the Direct Selection tool (CMD+A) to tidy up any over hang like you see above.

Step 4

Now to give the design some detail and break it up whilst keeping it minimal I duplicate the second shape and set the fill to white. Then place it behind  the second vector we have drawn.
(This really is the lazy way as i should redraw the first shape. But i find this way, we get the opposing curves near perfect)
Next select the circle tool and draw a small circle, set the fill colour to the same as the main shapes EB8AB6.  Duplicate the circle twice (CMD +C to copy then CMD + V to paste) Play around with the arrangement of them until you get a result you are happy with. As you can see the logo is starting to take shape.

Step 5

Now using the pen tool again draw a straight line that will be the stem and use the triangle tool to create the leaves. I created two, set them to different shades of green and placed one behind the other offset a little.

Step 6

Find a nice font and there you go a Contemporary Minimal Florist logo.

Have a play around with colors, shapes and placement to see what variations you can come up with.
